Sending a Message to Brooklyn, Big Time!
by drew sagan inwell last night i was doing a few boaring things and then this idea just popped in my head.
i was thinking about differant ways that a true 'disturbance' could happen from the ground up in the organization.
the basic idea is this: .

they would only count those that they personally have known for some time to profess to be of the anointed. the rest they would just ignore. and it would strengthen their faith, for that would be persecution.

Why do the majority of "newbies" disappear ???
by kid-A ini have noticed that, in general, there is a "core" of regular posters on jwd that have been members for several years.. however, it seems the vast majority of "newbies" disappear after a couple posts, days or perhaps a week.
how many "welcome" or "introduction" .
threads have we had here where the new member disappears within a day or so, never to post again?

If theyve read many old posts before actually joining, they may feel they have nothing particularly valuable to add, feeling that others said it better already. Or guilt takes over as they have yet to fully break the bonds. OR-theyre chicken-s***ts.
I was never welcomed btw, but i thrive on indiference.

When Rutger Hauer is looking down at Harrison Ford as he (HF), is losing his grip on the ledge of the building:
"This is what its like to live your life as a slave"
OR
"I want more life--F***er."
Best movie ever. Absolute gold.

Describe yourself as a tree.
by AK - Jeff ini think i would be a bit of a scruff pine.. i hold my place well, weather the storms with deep roots.
i am not as stately as some of my brethren trees.
i don't make the cover of "tree monthly".

What is the most objectionable thing you have heard off the platform?
by restrangled ini know many have quoted ridiculous statements from the assemblies etc., i just wonder what irked you most off of the platform in your own kh.. the one that sticks out in my mind was when we had a guest speaker on a sunday for the public talk.
i don't remember the theme but his main point was the starving people in africa did not need food.
he stated they needed spiritual food and would opt for that over a meal because they realize they could eat in the new order and there was no need to send any donations directly.

The last assembly i attended (last), the DO told a story about a pure pioneer sister who saved up her pennies to take a cruise in celebration of meeting her time requirement early. Immediately my BS detector went off, knowing damn well pios dont have money. Anyway, she dances till late, meets a handsome crewmember, sleeps with him, and then returns home the next day. Before she left, the crewmember gave her a small box, saying, "dont open this until you get home". A little coffin was inside with a note saying "WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF AIDS"!! Gasps of shock from the audience, chocked cries of despair, the sound of rent fabric as men tear their shirts apart in grief, exposing their pasty chests. My jaw literally dropped. This is a famous urban i heard 20 (twenty) years ago. Presented as truth. If i wasnt a coward, i would have broken through the cordon of would be willing bedfellows after the talk and told him so. HOW WOULD A WITNESS ANSWER THIS?
by Mary inok, i responded on another thread about a blood issue, but i suddenly thought of a new point of view that, as far as i know, hasn't been touched on yet (i apologize if it has been) and i wanted to get your opinion.
as we all know, the governing body refuses blood transfusions based on the scriptures that talk about pouring the blood of a dead animal "out on the ground" because the life is in the blood, yada, yada yada.
they have stated openly that there is no difference between eating the blood of a dead animal, and taking blood from a live human, even to save a life.

Well, I guess he didnt mean that we could hunt down and kill one another for food, but if, say, we came upon a corpse, and it was properly bled, we could feast on it innards. The man is a JW zombie. When i brought up the blood fraction hypocrisy about the whole "pour blood out thing", he stared straight ahead for ten full(and uncomfortable) seconds before answering.
Now im truly hijacking this thread.
I asked him about the change in the policy concerning organ transplants after first getting him to admit that he believes god "directs" the GB when writing articles for the Lit. Then i asked him which article did he direct, the PRO article or the CON one. He stared straight ahead for ten seconds(i swear) before saying "both". I cocked an eyebrow, but let it slide. He would rather call God a liar than admit that the Watchtower was wrong and had the consequent bloodguilt on itself. He was trapped, and it was sweet.

FF- I asked my FIL about blood fractions and they way they are manufactured from stored blood, in direct contradiction of the law concerning the pouring out of blood. He said he'd research and get back to me. Well, about two weeks later he calls up and says he has an article for me to read. Great! says I. "The aritcle is from blablabla watchtower concerning the ways in which brothers go about getting disfellowshipped. I think you need to really prayerfully consider this information." coward. Not trying to hijack Mary, I promise.

I asked my PO Father in law this and he said since the bible doesnt directly forbid cannibalism, that i could if i wanted to. So in order to support his ideas about the blood issue, he condones cannibalism. That conversation was a real turning point for me in seeing how .he twisted gymnastics of a witness mind will go through to support extra-biblical doctrine.
